Note: There is no primary evidence proving Johann Christian Kolb was the father of Christopher Culp (b:abt 1749; d:1833).

1753 - Johann Christophe Kolb arrived in Philadelphia from Rotterdam via Cowes, England on 29 September 1753. On the ship "Rowland", Captain Arthur Tran commanding.

1 Nov 1755 - Johann Christian Kolb married Magdalena Diestein in Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania. They were married by Rev. P. William Otterbein at the First Reformed Church in Lancaster Town. It is written in German and can be found on the microfilm records at the Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Johann Christian Kolb first shows on the tax records of Rapho Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1769. On land originally warranted to Jacob Coble. Jacob Coble had been taxed on this land up until 1768 and started again in 1775 the year Johann died. Note how the name keeps changing in the records.

The above land is on the south side of Old Line Road, several miles west of Manhein. It was still being farmed in 1994.

4 Mar 1774 - Johann Christian Kolp's will was written in "High Dutch", dated 4 March 1774, proved 7 April 1774 and can be found in "Lancaster County Will Book 4, Volume 2, Page 357".

24 Mar 1774 - Johann Christian Kolb died, Rapho Twp., Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. At his death he owned property in Dover Twp., York Co. and his will directed that it be sold and the money divided between his heirs. His oldest son Christian only received 8 pounds, 13 shillings and 3 pence including the extra 11 sterling he received for being the oldest son. Even though there was a surviving parent the estate had to go through the Orphan's Court to protect the interest of the children (when there were any minor children).
